Keriba Ged Program

“​Keriba”​, meaning “​Our”​ and “​Ged” ​meaning “​Home​” or “​Place”​, is a unique program that will see Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have the opportunity to develop premium business and hospitality skills at Bluestone Lane locations in the United States. ​Accepting its first cohort into the United States in 2023, the Keriba Ged program will open up pathways to success for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to live and train abroad, enabling them to learn and develop valuable leadership, project management, networking, financial, communication and customer service skills.

Information on the Bluestone Lane Keriba Ged Program

Bluestone Lane Keriba Ged is a six week long, immersive experiential learning opportunity in hospitality and business for emerging professionals and leaders. Through four core learning pillars, Mentees will be invited to participate in the following experiences: 

  1. Virtual Introduction and In-Country Training Week: Participants will be invited to virtual introductions, seminars, and training modules to become better acquainted with each other, Team Mills as well as the Bluestone Lane team. Information regarding travel, accommodation, and living in New York City as well as training in Bluestone Lane will be provided. Participants will spend three days in Australia at a designated location training in a local coffee business to learn basics in barista training and hospitality.

  2. On-Ground Immersion Training and Learning: 

    Week 1: Corporate Competencies/ Hospitality Training and Playbook
    Bluestone Lane Corporate Offices/ Coffee Lab

    Week 2: In-Store Team Training
    Bluestone Lane New York Cafes and Coffee Shops

    Week 3: In-store work Experience
    Bluestone Lane New York Cafes and Coffee Shops

    Week 4: Corporate Focus 
    Bluestone Lane Corporate Office

  3. Virtual Review: Participants will be invited to participate in a capstone review assignment to summarize their experience and key learnings/insights.

  1. Bluestone Lane Keriba Ged is a six week long program commencing in 2023.

  2. Candidates will be provided with accommodation, flights, living expenses, and transportation while living in New York City, New York.+

  3. Candidates will be provided with Bluestone Lane hospitality training as well as information on key sectors of the business while also having the opportunity to meet with other influential leaders in different sectors of business and hospitality in and around New York City.

Desired Applicant Qualifications

  1. Applicants must be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Descent. 

  2. Applicants must value the opportunity to represent their respected community and be willing to share their culture with those in the work environment.

  3. Applicants must possess an Australian passport with a minimum validity of six months.  

  4. Applicants must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 and provide proof of vaccination per CDC recommendations and US entry requirements.

  5. Applicants must have some degree of experience, interest or a degree in hospitality. 

  6. Must have a ‘can-do’ attitude, be open to learning in a fast-past environment. 

  7. Applicants must be highly motivated, passionate, and purpose-driven individuals who value inclusivity, respect and cultural understanding.

  8. Applicants must possess a high level of personal integrity, honesty, and patience. Position is highly team oriented and collaborative.

  9. Applicants must possess high level attention to detail, organization, and discretion.

  10. Applicants must recognize, respect and understand the ethical values and importance of ‘giving back’ before ‘taking from’ and implement these values on a daily basis.

  11. Applicants must exhibit a high level of confidentiality.

  12. Applicants will be asked for two references and a background check will be performed.

  13. Applicants must be 18 or older.
